United we stand

The Rectorate of the University of Graz, the University Council, the University Senate and all university bodies as well as the European Universities Alliance Arqus strongly condemn the military attack of the Russian government on Ukraine and stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

We share the serious concerns of the international community and strongly condemn the Russian government's military attack on Ukraine. We call for an immediate end to an action that constitutes serious aggression against the people of Ukraine and against international law.

We wish to show our most sincere support and solidarity to the citizens of Ukraine and especially to all members of Ukrainian universities with whom our members have close relations. We are ready to offer any support at our disposal that these communities may ask of us.

Our universities are based on the core European values of democracy, the rule of law, human rights and respect for diversity. We believe that universities and education play a key role in fostering the international and intercultural competence needed to understand others and respect all cultures, nationalities and diversity of perspectives. As such, we will continue our daily efforts to actively advocate for peace and freedom around the world.
